Hurray!! I got into Knight Frank!!

Juz received a call from Janice from Knight Frank. Hee...was shorlisted for the job. Was really surprised to receive the call actually, coz I estimated tat she shld be calling yesterday. Haha...maybe they really cannot get people so decided to take me. Anyway, the contract is supposed to start after CNY, but seems tat they've brought forward to before CNY. Was a bit sianz when I heard that actually, coz it means that my CNY will be burned! But well, we seldom have visitors other than my 2 irritating aunties, and we do not visit other relatives as well, so its ok. Anyway, I do wan to try out in this line, so a little sacrificial is expected. Even if I am not offered a perm job after this 3mths, at least I hab the experience in this field. Luckily, this 3 mths contract is not bonded. Only first 1 mth it is. Subsequently, juz hab to serve a 2weeks notice.

2 days of intensive training will start next Thursday and Friday. Will have to report for work/training at 10am @ Costa Del Sol. Damn! I still duno where the hell is the location! Tink muz ask my "walking road directories"...either my papa or bf liao.

But then...there's somthing on my mind now...yest my fren was telling mi tat her dad is working inside. Hmm...seems tat she's trying to tell me something, but then, she had to go out for a while and after tat, I was so tired so I logged off. Din get a chance to speak to her abt it...Anyhow, I hope tat I made the right decision.

Looking forward to short trip tml! *yeah*

Hee...so excited! I'm going to Malacca tml!...Ok, its not my 1st time there actually, but then, hab not been travelling up to Malaysia for quite some time other than going to JB, the Holiday Plaza to shop. Well, this time round, i'm not there to shop or wat. Apparently, there's this Guinese World Record of the most bikes or something, so I'll be going up with my bf, together with all his Harley frens! It is expected to be a rather big event. Not too sure how big thou. Mmm... I know ppl will tink that we're crazy to ride up to Malaysia and how dangerous it can be. I noe my parents are not too happy about it and they're worried abt me, but well, it's not my first trip up to Malaysia on a bike anyway! The furtherest i've ridden to Malaysia on a bike was to Genting. Hope to go up to Thailand with my frens 1 day...they alwaiz tell me how nice it is to ride up there, the Golden Triangle etc. Sounds crazy?...Not really. I believe its the passion of a real die-hard bikers! It's more of an endurance kinda thing more than anything else.

No doubt, I do agree that to a certain extend, it is dangerous. But to me, I feel that everything is fated. Whether you're fated to die or not is all predestined. Look at tat guy, driving his land rover for a mercy relief for the tsunami disaster. End up, he became an accident victim himself. He did not speed, the weather was fine, he did not bang on any oncoming vehicles etc, yet the accident still happened. Strange indeed, but tats life. Unpredictable but yet is destined to happen.

Oh well, anyway my bf is not the type who rides like 260km/h...so its still ok. Moreover, we have all our proper riding gear, from Helemt to suits, boots and gloves. I dun mean to say that such gears can save our life in the event of any mishaps *Touchwood*, but then, if the impact is not too bad, it does prevent injuries like abrasions etc. That's why ppl at Performance Motors alwaiz emphasize on proper riding gear. Although we're not riding our Beemer anymore, we still adopt tis "culture". Besides, our touring suits are weather-proof, so if it rains, we can just ride through it. Unlike my other frens, they have to stop somewhere, seek shelter and don on their rain-coats! Haha...

Well, haven really packed my stuffs yet. Anyway, its a 2-days 1-night thingy, so not much things to bring oso. Hee...so happy! Can go Makota shop shop again! Miss tat place....oh! and the road side hawker stalls! Muz eat till I drop tis time!! ahahaha

Hmm...not too sure wat time i'm gg, tink i'll be meeting up my frens at 10am in Geylang Patah. Most bikers will know where this place is. Its actually the Essso Station imeediately after crossing the 2nd link. Ppl will usually top up their fuel tanks before embarking on their long journey! ok...tink I shall go tink wat to bring...till then, will update and upload my fotos when i'm back! :)

@ Kopi Bean...Bitching away

Me & Clara @ Kopi Bean
Originally uploaded by mayleen81.
Today'outing was fun as usual. Crapping & Bitching away...and of coz, SHOPPING! Met up with Mat first as Clara was late. Walked over the Penisula with Mat, coz he wanna buy the spare batteries for his digicam. Later on, Miss Clara came and we head down to Orchard coz she wanna change a dress she bght 3 days earlier. Apparently, her dad gave her some comments and she became so paranoid tat she decided to chg tat dress for other design. Anyway, she changed into a black tube dress, which I tink look fabulous on her!...We walked down to the Kopi Bean in Taka for a brunch and bitching session. Didn't wan to eat too heavy, so we ordered drinks, cheese cake, chinese chicken salad and salmon sandwich. *Yummy*...Well, we din really bitch around tat much lah, basically juz an update of our lives and other ppl in SIM...ok, its not bitching, its gossiping!!...Anyway, gossips are part and parcel of life...and I reckon Mat enjoys listening to our gossips & bitching session!! ahahah...

After that, we went down to Lucky Plaza where clara bght some stuffs. At tat point of time, Uncle Mike called!! Well, we reckon he wld be acting busy inside his dad's company *Oops*, so we did not ask him down. Besides, his status is now Single, but not Avaliable!!...ahaha
...But I tink he was quite jealous tat we somehow left him out, but well, Clara told him tat since all 3 of us are still jobless, so it sounds logical tat we 3 hab the time to mit up!...okok...Unlce Mike, we promise u tat we'll make up to u...mayb 1 big tub of Juicy Creamy S**T!!..ahahhaa...

Walked down to Far East to look see. Nothing much to buy over there. Quite disappointing though. Took a bus down to Hereen...nothing much to look see oso, since the dress which I wanted so much, they still do not hab stocks of it. So sad! *sobz*....Decided to head down to Bugis, coz I've been wanting to go back to Guan Yin Miao to return my prayers, but it has since been long overdue, and I felt really guilty abt it, so took a bus down WaterLoo Street...

As usual, I bght the Pink Lotus, which is oni $1 to offer prayers. Since i'm stll jobless and really hope to get into Knight Frank, I decided to "qiu qian". Ok, I'm not a pro at it unlike Miss Clara...so she juz stood beside me to guide me along. It was quite a funny scene actually! Anyhow, prolly Guan Yin sister had difficulty understanding wat i'm trying to ask her, so no matter how I tried, the Lot which dropped out dun seem to be mine!! I gave up after nearly 4 tries??...Ya, coz Clara says mayb today is not a good day to ask, so no point and she asked me go back another to ask again lor. Haiz...strange!

......

Went to eat Gui Ling Gao after our visit to Guan Yin Jie Jie, coz Miss Clara was complaining that the weather is so warm and her body is suffering from "heatiness". I didn't eat though coz it feels like taking some kinda chinese medication!...Then came along my fren who passed mi some stuffs. Mmm...should I say is fren or stranger??...Just dump me the stuffs and walked away quickly! I was the one who initiated asking him "hey, u went for interview today ah?"...His reply: "ya". Ok, maybe his fren was with him and he was in a hurry, but well, even for a very normal fren, we'll still ask how the person is doing etc. But well, i've known him like for 2 yrs or something?...well, prolly we had some unhappiness between us, so mayb tat explains it. Anyhow, tats not impt coz I dun owe anyone a living! So be it then!

Went to bugis and look see again. Nothing much to buy again. Maybe we're also tired, though Miss Clara did try on some clothes, but she's still considering. Went back at arounf 5+, coz Clara has Yoga lessons at 7.30pm. Oh!! tink this gal still having her Yoga now! hee...

Times passes so fast today, but yet to receive any calls, let alone job opportunities! well, got 1 agency did call mi up after all, but it's recruitment consultant again, which requires cold calling again! Damn!!...I HATE TELEMARKETING!!...Over my dead body tat i'm gona do tat again!...Turned it down and juz asked tat kind lady, Karthy to help me look out for other jobs.

Suddenly feel so lost and demoralised...whole world seems to be employed...why am I the only one still rotting away at home?...*Sobz*

Job Lobang?

*Yawnz*...got woken up early in the morning at 7.30am by my brother. He had intercomed me and said that he needs to speak to me in 5mins time. Damn! He seldom has things to speak to me and now, he is waking me up early in the morning, telling me that he needs to speak to me???!!! Shit! I was thinking, did I do something wrong and he's gona tell me off or wat. I pop out of my room, the room of his door is still locked. Lingered around outside my room for a while and then, heard the sound of him unlocking his door...

Oh!!!...last night he was chatting with his fren, who's currently working in UBS AG...the new Bank. Seems that the marketing/events management department has vacancies! So he was telling me roughly on the job scope etc. and asked me to email my resume to his fren. Aawwwww!!!....So sweet of him!!...Haha...well, prolly he dun want me to go on shaking legs and rotting at home! Anyhow, it was still so sweet of him. Well, i mean at least he still bother to care, making the effort to help me find a job.

So here I am, sending my resume to his fren, and "sun-bian" update a bit bit before I go for my bitching appointment! Hee....till then, will update when i'm hm tonite, IF i'm still alive & Kicking! ahaha....

Will I Get The Job??....

The interview today was quite ok. There were about 10 of us in the conference room. It was quite an informal thing, whereby Janice the Manager of Residential Property spoke to us and gave us a brief introduction. Then came the Chief Executive of Residential Property, who is also Janice's immediate boss came and did the whole presentation. Both were very friendly and gave a very detailed explanation of the whole interview process; from the Company Background, to the Company's projects and of coz, the remuneration package.

Basically, it is only a 3 months contract. They hab a project near ECP, Costa Del Sol or something, which they will be launching soon, thus they need manpower to oversee this project and to sell as many units as possible.

To me, the remuneration package seems quite ok. Basic+Com, work 6 days, including Sat, Sun & PH, but a fixed off on a weekday. If performance is good after 3mths, then will be offered a perm postion with a different package, which is of coz better than this one.

But well, i'm not too optimistic about being offered this job. Firstly, there are quite a number of people who applied for this job, thus they decided to do this recruitment exercise in a differetn way, a grp interview. Secondly, most of the people there have working experience and even in property line. Coincidentally, one of them was my bf ex-colleague. I found him very familiar the moment i see him, but wasn't too sure. Then when Janice mentioned that his name is Zac and he used to be from Far East Organisation, then I was 80% sure it could be him. Told my bf about it after the interview and he smsed him and true enough, it was really his ex-colleague.

Anyway, out of the 10 ppl inside the room, 8 of them all have prior experience in the property line, except me and the other gal. Haiz...so how can i be optimistic?? Prolly they will oni take me if they really can't find ppl. This is possible coz its only a 3 months contract, and its not a guaranteed thing that u'll be offered a perm job. And it seems tat most of the ppl there are currently holding a job, so it's quite unlikely they may gib it up for a temp contract job. As for me, I just wan to gain the experience and exposure, and most importantly, like what Janice said, To try it out myself to see whether I'm suitable in the real estate line, if i've the intention to go into this field.

Now, I can only wait and hope to be shortlisted. Anyway, we're all supposed to go hm and digest about the interview/presentation. Meanwhile, I tink they will screen thru the resumes of the candidates again. Guess my chances of being selected is relatively slim...well, I just hope for the best. Haiz...will someone pls gib me a chance??.... :(

Interview Tomorrow...

Finally been called up for another interview after so nuahing for so long at home. Well, I doubt i'll be cheated this time round coz this is not an Investment nor Insurance company. This is a real estate company. Actually, I applied for 2 organisations dealing in property. One is Far East Organisation and the other is Knight Frank. Did not get a respond from Far East Org. despite the different positions which I applied. Then, saw an ad in The Straits Times Recruit last last weekend, tink on the 15th and decided to try knight frank. I was just trying my luck then, coz it stated there that they need at least 1 yr of experience, but then, it would not cost a single cent by emailing my resume over, thus i decided to give it a try.

I receive the call at about 5pm, while i was waiting for my sis, who was going through a job interview. When I saw the number, I thought it would prolly be the job agency. Oh! that was Janice, from Knight Frank. She called regarding the Sales Executive position which I applied and asked me down for a group interview tml at 5.30pm. Well, actually I guess it's not exactly a group interview, but a career seminar I would say. Anyway, she was quite sweet to sms the address of the company since I do not hab a pen and paper with me.

Mmm...nw I'm feeling a bit excited but scared at the same time, coz I don't know what's in store for me tml and of coz, i'll be going there alone. Well, hope that i'll be able to meet some kind souls out there and we can start bitching!! ahahaha...
Anyway, I'm glad its an informal kinda interview, so dress code can be causal. Told me parents about it and they are quite supportive of me going into the property line. Infact, they were the ones who encourage me to gib it a try. I also duno why...but anyway, no harm going down and see the career opportunity and try it out if possible. Shall see how it goes tml first...

Over the Long Weekend

The long weekend was spent shopping, shopping and more shopping!! heee....it's my all time favourite activity, whereby I can never get sick and tired of it. The public holiday on Friday was spent shopping in Raffles City. The day before on Thursday, mi aimed a project shop sling bag in Bishan, but then it was the only piece left and I dun feel comfortable taking the last piece with so many hands on it oredi. So went to the outlet in Raffles Place and luckily, they hab a new piece of it. Shopped around that area and bought my Favourite Japanese Milk tea. Damn! they do not hab the big bottles left, only the small ones. Of coz it is more worth it to buy the bigger bottle as compared to the smaller ones. But I really cannot do without the drink...I'm afraid i'll suffer from "cold turkey" if I dun drink it! hahaha....so end up buying 2 smaller bottle lor, even though I have to rugi about $1!

Saturday wasn't spent on shopping though, coz I was too lazy to go out. Only went for dinner with my parents in Pasir Panjang Food Centre where we ate like pigs!! Ordered BBQ stingray, sambal sotong and kangkong, lala and fried frog leg! Yummy!!...*drools*...after that went home and rest for a while, before my bf jio me go Changi with his friends see Ah-Kua, La-kopi and eat satay!! ahahha...Felt so guilty after that, coz did not hab aerobics class for tat Friday due to Hari Raya Haji, and there I am, putting back all the extra calories!! *sobz*...Okok, I shall jump harder tis cuming Friday during the class! hee...

Sunday was spent shopping again!! My sis and I were really bored at home, so decided to go down town see see yandaos and shop shop a bit. ahahahah....Luckily, my papa was so sweet to volunteer and drive us down to Orchard. That saved us all the trouble of getting caught in the jams and having to fight with peopel for parking lots or to squeeze with all kinds of people on public transport!! Phew!

Papa dropped us off in Wisma. Went straight to Espirit and started my Espirit craze again!! Stayed in there for quite some time. Did not really buy much, except for a Polo-T and a pair of socks, while my sis bght a very nice cap. After that, we went down to Isetan, the Anna Sui counter to check out the conditioning mist which I saw on Her World. Seems to be quite good, so decided to get a bottle and try. Tried it last night, quite good...really keeps the face moistured but not too oily or drying to the skin. Most importantly, it's not too expensive, only $29! Hee...think they shld engage mi to be their Spokesperson leh. *ahem* ahaha...

Anyway, we walk down to the URS in Takashimaya, coz my sis is a loyal supporter of URS sandals! Saw a pair that she liked but KIV first. We walked down to Hereen and my sis went to the URS there and finally bght that pair of heels which she saw earlier. Went HMV after that, and we started buying cds! Think HMV is having this clear out thingy, so most of their cds are relatively cheap. My sis really bght a lot of Jap cds, think 4 or 5, while I bght oni 1, the Jacky Cheung Cd, whereby he sing other people's songs! While we were about to leave Hereen, I came across this kawaii demin dress from one of the shops. Tried on it, but it was too big. So disappointing!! they do not have a "M" size, even for the other outlets!! *sob sob*...anyway, I left my contact no. with them, hoping tat they will bring in stocks of it soon! Really like it VERY Much!!!

Walked down to Plaza Sing. Nothing much to see and buy over there. Ended up buying cute hairclips at Mu-ee!...Then papa called to say they'll be meeting us for dinner at Crystal Jade, Toa Payoh at 7pm. Took a train down and had a pretty heavy dinner. Went back home, nuah a bit here and there...and slept around 12+.

Mmm... basically that was how I spent my long weekend...sounds pretty boring, but well, that's my lifestyle...Shopping & Eating!! Hee...

Felt so Cheated!!

Yes! I was right. The interview today is basically a wasted trip. Simply a waste of my time! The moment I came out of the lift on the 11th floor, my doubts were confirmed! I saw the big sign: Stratgic Partners, part of the Prudential Group!...Damn! At that point of time, I really wanted to make a U-turn and just go home. But then, since I am already there, well, i deciced to give myself and the company a chance...who know's they may be offering me a different position, also related to Sales & Marketing! Well, I know that I'm just lying to myslef, but then...

Anyway, I went inside Unit 05. Apparently, the whole level of 11th floor belongs to this company. I was early for my appointment by 1/2 hour. Everyone seems busy with their work. Managed to gain the attention of 1 of the ladies and told her that I had an appointment to see Diah at 11.30am. Somehow, I can't really make out what she was mumbling, all I heard was "take a seat first".

Was really bored sitting there nothing to do. Started observing the people inside the office. Damn! the whole company are mostly made up of Malays!...Became even more demoralised after that. Ok, I'm quite a racist! Really had a greater urge to leave. Felt quite awkward coz can feel that the people keep looking at me. Worst still! got this middle-aged Baldding Lao-Ti-Ko Uncle, keep walking around me and looking at me. He looks as if he neber see girls before! Don't know if he's married or not. I hope he is, so that his wife and Dig out his eyeballs and make Eye-ball soup!!....Sat there for quite some time, before someone finally sensed my prescence! Then came another Malay gal who asked me to fill up the application form and do some stupid personality test! Waste of my time again! No choice, I started filling it up. Gave it back to her, and finally, Diah came to greet and brought me to the room for interview.

Basically, she just asked me to elaborate more of my job while in Recruit Express. Guess I love to talk, so I just rattled on and on. Basically she asked me a few questions which basically test my personality and how I respond to situations. Ok, she's quite friendly and it's more like a friendly chat rather than an interview. I'm a pretty straight forward type, so I just asked her straight in the face if this is an insurance line. She was quite reluctant to admit at first. Anyway, it is actually Inurance + Investment line. The job is to ask people to buy insurance and also to get them to ivest their CPF and to "grow" more $$ for them! Sounds good?...Well, I'm a realistic person, so to me, all these are crap! But well, I can't possibly leave like that. Being in MLM before, I know how it feels, so I just give her some "face" and listen to what she has to say. Although she keeps saying they are Very different from MLM companies, however, the training structure, commission structure and methods are so simliar! She was really patient to explain all those stuffs to me and of course, at the end of the interview, came the magic question: "So when are you able to commit?"...I was a little shocked by her question coz I thought tat she herslf would need more time to review if I'm a suitable candidate or not. Of course deep in my heart, I knew that this is NOT the job that I'm looking for, but it will be a really awkward situation if I were to downright reject, right in her face. So I just told her that I needed more time to digest 1st before making a decision. She became a bit aggressive after that and started using reverse psychology. Kept on saying that I'm a fresh grad, and ask me how many interviews I've gone etc. I guess she is trying to imply that although I'm a fresh grad, they are willing to employ and train me. Anyway, That was really KIND of them.

Think she was really disappointed that she can't get me into the company, coz I kept insisting that I needed time to think through. Then, another bomb-shell!...she invited me to attend a seminar on the 1st February 2005 at 6.30pm. Damn!...need to "keng" another execuse again!...So I just told her that I may have an appointment and will contact her again. Finally managed to leave that place...felt so relieved! The first thing I did was to call my bf and bitch with him! haha...

Went back hm, mummy asked me how was my interview. Told her everything and she also agreed that it's not a very ethical career. Anyway, now I'm hoping that Diah will not call me, which is very unlikely!...Think now I muz go start keng what execuses to give her again! hahaha....

~ Interview ~

Finally got called up for an interview by a Comapany after waiting and slacking at home for nearly 1 month plus! Recieved the call at about 12.08pm. The caller identified herself as Diah, from Strategic Partners. The interview was sceduled for tomorrow at 11.30am. The problem now is that I can't really remember what was the exact position and if i did send my resume into the company! Basically, I applied for nearly over 30 positions as a Sales and Marketing Executive! Started to panic a little after I ended the call. Tried to check my sent items to see if I've sent my resume to Strategic Partners. No...can't seem to find it. Checked my jobstreet account too. No results found. Damn! when on earth did I send the application in!...Decided to check on Jobstreet and try to back-tracked on the advert which was posted. A futile search again! Then, I came across another position also by the same company, Strategic Partners! Click on the page, hoping to get some info on the company. Damn! seems like a MLM or Investment company! Became a little apprehensive on going for the interview tomorrow, but then, I may be wrong too...well, guess I should just do down tomorrow and check things out myself. Hopefully it will not be wasted trip!...

Japan Trip : Part 1

I had always wanted to go Japan and visit my sis ever since she went over in October 2003 for her 1 year language studies there. Supposed to go over in April with my parents to visit her and to see the blossoming of the Sakura. Unfortunately, I had to attend school, had to meet my projects deadline as well as preparing for exams thus I had to postpone it till June. However, between May to June, I had to go to Aussie for a month for an Overseas Study Program and will extend my stay since I’m already there. Due to money constraint (coz I really spent a bomb on shopping in Aussie), whereby I know that I’ll need money to shop in Japan plus my health wasn’t in an excellent condition at that point of time, thus I had to postpone the trip once again! Finally, on 07 December 2004, I boarded SQ982 for Nagoya!...So excited being able to see my sis again after 1 year!

It was a midnight flight again at 1.10am. It was a scary feeling, coz this time I am traveling all alone by myself, taking the plane to meet my sis in Japan! I was so paranoid on boarding the wrong gate that would take me to some strange alien country, which would probably leave me stranded alone there! My parents keep assuring me that it is quite idiot proof to move around the airport in Singapore and in Japan as well since there are English signs everywhere and you just have to follow it. My parents and bf went to see me off that night. We arrived Terminal 2 at around 10.30pm, after which my dad dropped me off and I was supposed to check in the luggage myself, while he went off to park his car. Being quite a dependent person, I suddenly felt so alone and scared! Anyway, I proceeded to the check-in counter. It was fast, coz earlier on, my brother help me checked in through the Internet. I was issued my boarding pass and told of which gate to enter etc. Then my parents and bf came along. Since it was still early, we went to BK for some food. Finally at 12.30, they saw me off into the departure hall. Waved goodbye to them, gave my passport to the immigration guy and off I went, to find where the hell Gate 33 is! Saw the signs, followed it, which was a long walk to the gate. Arrive at Gate 33, made sure that the flight is bound for Nagoya. Upon seeing so many Japanese around, I was certain it is the correct gate. Felt a bit strange to be the only Singaporean gal around and I was all alone by myself! Anyway, there was still some time left before boarding, so I started calling my bf and friends and chit-chat with them since it’s free using the payphone inside the waiting area.

It was time to board the flight. All the passengers walked orderly into the plane. The plane took off punctually at 1.10am. Considering it to be an off peak period, the flight wasn’t that full. Had empty seats all around the plane. Even my row, there was an empty seat between me and a Jap Ah-pek. He was quite friendly and we smiled to each other. After that, he started speaking to me in Japanese! I gave him a blur look and told him that I do not understand and told him that I’m from Singapore. He was so fascinated upon learning that I’m a Singaporean, coz he said that I looked like a Jap! Anyway, he spoke a bit of English though it was a bit difficult to make out what he was really saying and vice versa. It was like a chicken and duck trying to communicate with one another! I was tired by then, took a short nap and supper was served. It was sandwich which tasted suxx! Went back to sleep again and around 7am, breakfast was served. Fortunately, it was more edible and was quite delicious! At this point of time, the Jap Ah-pek spoke to me again and wanted to “borrow” my hand to carry his liquor! In Japan, they are only allowed to bring in 3 bottles, any additional bottle which they bring in is tax payable. At first he asked the flight steward if he can bring in 4 bottles. The flight steward then helped him checked and told him he would have to pay tax. All thanks to that flight steward, he told the Ah-pek if he got any friends on the plane to help him carry 1 bottle, then he could evade taxes. Immediately, the Ah-pek turned to look at me with that “ke-lian” look…well, how could I bear to turn him down!!??...but in my heart, I was quite apprehensive in helping him, coz I remember mummy always taught us since young that we should never help strangers to carry things. It may be drugs or weapons and I’ll be made the scapegoat. I still remember her words till now. Hee… But then, seeing the Ah-pek so poor thing, I decided to take the chance. Anyway, he was quite “automatic” enough to pass me the bottle of wine in a transparent plastic bag, instead of a non-transparent bag, so I was able to see the contents inside the bag clearly.

Yeah! Finally reached Nagoya airport at 8.20am. Think I ate too much on the plane and due to the motion sickness, I vomited while the plane was landing. Luckily, I had taken the motion sickness bag the moment I board the plane as a standby. I sealed it up properly and intend to throw it after I alight from the plane. To my amazement, there is not a single dustbin in the whole arrival hall!!...Gosh! I had no choice but to hold on to the motion sickness bag and walk around in it!! Haha…I know that sounds really gross, but I do not have a choice. It was until I get out of the whole damn place then I see a dustbin around!

Anyway, the moment I stepped out the plane, I can feel the cold weather outside! Prior to my departure, my sis was telling me that the weather there is cooling! To me, there’s a great difference between cooling and cold!! Guess my sis is used to the weather, so to her, it is considered cooling, but to me, it is damn cold! Luckily I have my big jacket with me, but my shawl was inside the luggage. Anyway, back to my Ah-pek story. He seems like my sugar daddy, coz we have to walk together, since his bottle of liquor is with me. We went to claim our baggage and went through the custom together. I passed back the bag of liquor back to the Ah-pek. He took out a name card from his wallet, gave it to me and told me that if I needed any help while in Nagoya can always look for him. Oh! This Ah-pek is actually a Chairman from some electronics or IT Company. Anyway, he thanked me profusely and I just smiled to him.

Finally I’m out of the immigration checkpoint and there I saw my beloved sis, waving the Peko she bought for me in Japan. We were so happy upon seeing each other and hug each other. After all, we had not seen each other for at least 1 year. Soon after, the Ah-pek came from behind. He thanked me again and I roughly told my sis what happened. Both of them spoke a bit in Jap and my sis thanked him for taking care of me while on the plane. After that, we parted ways. Ok, there are nice people out there actually and I’m lucky to have met one. As usual, my dad and bf called my sis to make sure that I had met up with my her. Probably they were also worried that I had ended up in India or Africa, considering how blur and I can be! haha

It was really cold standing outside the airport while my sis went to get the bus shuttle tickets which will bring us to the train station. Luckily we did not have to wait very long for the bus to arrive. The bus ride to the Nagoya train station was about ½ to 45mins. Upon arrival, we went straight to the train baggage deposit area and dump my big luggage there. Because it a normal working day, there are a lot of people walking around the train station and in a rush, trying to get to work on time. It was such a relief “getting rid” of the luggage and guess what?...Yeah! It’s Shopping time again!!

Nagoya is really a shopping paradise! The place we went to shop is actually the underground train station, something similar to Citylink, but it is definitely much more exciting and interesting to shop there. The shopping area seems to be endless and there are so many shops selling clothes, shoes, bags, accessories and food that you feel a bit lost. Luckily my sis is an expert in the place so I didn’t get lost. Although there were nice clothes and shoes etc., it was really expensive. A simple mini demin skirt is around S$60, when you can get similar ones in Far East at ½ the price! Anyway, my sis and I are more interested in getting a pair of boots, so we hunt around the various shoe shop looking for nice looking boots. Since it is the winter season, boots are everywhere!! It’s the Japanese trend that they will wear boots in this season and wearing nice mini demin skirts to go with it! We finally came to this store, where they have the boots my sis and I are looking for. Tried several pairs before we made on the final decision to buy the one currently. Each of us got a pair which costs around S$160. It is definitely cheaper and looks nicer as compared to those sold in Singapore. Of course not forgetting my peko shop in Nagoya!...My sis brought me there and the things there are so kawaii!!...feel like buying the entire shop down! Decided to have lunch at the Peko’s café. We ordered pizzas and fried pork cutlet. Damn delicious! *Yummy*…oh, I also bought a bottle of peko sweets for Clara as a X’mas present.

Walked up and down the shopping area, didn’t buy much other than the shoes. It’s just too expensive and not really worth buying. Went to a shopping mall, where there is Muji! Bought a pink shawl, 100% wool for only S$16!! Although I brought along my own shawl, the price and the colour was simply hard to resist! At the shopping mall, my sis bought a nice jacket for only S$70!!...Very good quality and most importantly, it keeps her warm. After that, she brought me to a big bookshop whereby they sell lots of books, magazines and stationery. Of course I did not buy books, but I promised my bf and Clara to help them buy their favourite magazines; Harley bike magazines for my bf and Nail art magazines for Clara. My sis helped me to find a few copies. In the end, I bought 2 bike mags and 1 nail art, which was really dirt cheap! By the time we were done with our shopping, it was nearly 4pm. Need to go back and claim my baggage and head down to my sis apartment in Okazaki, a 45mins train ride there.

Finally arrived back at my sis apartment at around 5+. Settled down quickly, took a quick warm bathe and it was time to prepare the steamboat dinner at 6pm! It was actually a farewell dinner for my sis with her friends. I think my sis and her friends bought nearly the whole supermarket the previous day! The whole table is filled with nothing else but lots of seafood, meat, drinks, chips, chocolates, beer, wine etc. Basically, my sis friends are all very friendly and crazy people so it wasn’t that hard to “blend” into their crappy behavior, since I’m a crappy person as well! Altogether, there were about 10 of us, having Japanese steamboat, hiding away from the cold weather in my sis apartment. We ate, crap, watch TV until about 3am before they left and we finally managed to get some rest. I was really stoned by then since I did not really sleep well on the plane the previous night and was suffering from jet lag as well!

Slept on the futon that night. Since my sis is already immune to the cold, she gave me her warm blanket knowing that I cannot take the cold. Even then, I still wrapped myself like a dumpling to sleep coz it’s really too cold, and the heater seems more like an aircon!

Woke up around 9am the next morning. Started packing for our trip out to Osaka. We decided to use 1 big luggage instead of having 2 hand carries each, so that it will be easier to move around and also to jagar only 1 luggage instead of 4 small ones! But come to think of it, we should have brought smaller bags, coz in Japan, especially their train stations, everywhere is stairs; they seldom have escalators! So half the time, my sis and I have to carry the luggage and climb up and down the stupid stairs! It was really a torture man! Anyway, we were still quite early when we arrived at the train station, so we bought a Unagi set, to eat inside the bullet train as our brunch while on the way to Osaka. Finally, our shinkansen arrived at the station. Luckily my sis booked the seats the day before, so we did not have to fight with other people for seats, else we may have to stand for 1 hr! Anyway, it was really strange that I can get motion sickness on a Shinkansen! Ok, luckily I wasn’t the only one, coz later on, my brother also confessed that he suffered from motion sickness while traveling on the Shinkansen! Ahaha

Yeah! Finally arrived at Shin-Osaka! After that, it was changing of trains here and there to our Hot Spring Hotel, whereby we will meet my brother and his gf, Alice there. Lucky my sis’s sense of direction is better than mine, plus I know nuts about Japanese, so basically I just follow her! Boarded the free shuttle bus to the Hot Spring Hotel which was a 20mins ride away. My brother and Alice was already there by the time we arrived at the hotel’s lobby. Checked into our hotel room, which was really cosy. It’s those Japanese style, where you’ll sit and sleep on the floor. My sis and I did not even bother to pack our luggage and immediately, we changed and went to the hot spring area!! We went to the indoor one first to get our body accustomed to the warm temperature before we went to the outdoor pool. It was really comfortable to soak in the hot water, with the cold wind blowing on your warm face and being surrounded with nice red autumn leaves, the feeling is simply indescribable. Now I know why my parents were telling me that no matter what, die die also must go to the Hot-spring!...I guess they themselves were also “addicted” to it!

Dinner that night is like what we usually watch on Japan’s Hour! The whole table is all filled with only food! All of us ate like pigs that night. Super fresh sashimi, chawangmushi, mixed beef stew/soup, pickles, miso soup, fruits, mackerel etc. *Drools* We were too full to move by then, and we just sat there stoned, watching the Jap Variety Show for a while before going to bed! All of us slept in the same room, and as usual, I wrapped myself up like a dumpling to sleep! Cold night again!

Woke up around 7am the next morning. We went down to the hot-spring again to have a final dip. Feel so refreshed and awake!!...Had our shower etc. and did some final packing before we head for breakfast. Breakfast is equivalent to lunch/dinner. We were served rice, salmon, udon, pickles, miso soup etc. A heavy breakfast indeed! Left the hot-spring around 10am. Alice, my sis and I bought some souvenirs at the hotel’s lobby shop. As usual, we have to take the train and go back to Shin-Osaka, where we will stay for the next 4 days.

Japan Trip : Part 2

Accommodation at Shin-Osaka was a business hotel. Quite a nice environment, with super clean shower area. After loading off our luggage, we went off to the Dotomburi area, where we went to the Themed Restaurant. It was really nice, seems like we were being transported back to the 70’s, and its food and more food again! Oh! It is also at this place where we made our own Tako-Yaki balls! It’s so Fun!!...but it was really difficult to turn the thing around and make it into a ball-like shape! Always go to Takashimaya and see those guys make, which seemed so easy. In actual fact, it’s not! Takes a lot of skill to do it. Luckily, the end products still look quite nice and edible. It was really a good experience. After the Themed Restaurant, we went to the Glico Shop where we bought a lot of snacks!! Oh! Of course my sis did not forget my Favourite Peko Shop there! Went to the store and there are a lot more variety of Peko’s stuff around as compared to Nagoya. After all, my Miss Peko comes from Osaka! Ahaha…Bought some sweets and took some photos in the shop. After that, it’s shopping again. The area is really filled with lights, colours, people and life. It is also a shopping paradise there, and you can just walk on and on. My poor brother had to accompany his 3 princess shopping, when I can see that he was feeling quite bored and tired! Anyway, our dinner that night was Yaki-Soba…something like fried noodles, just that it tasted extremely delicious! We also tried the Japanese pancake, which was stuffed with cheese and bacon! Yummy!

After dinner that night, my sis friend from Osaka volunteered to drive us around to see the night view. However, all of us did not know that he was actually going to bring us up to this mountain, Mt. Rokku, which has lots of sharp bends and turns. I ended puking all the way up to the mountain! It was even worst than a roller-coaster ride! And my sis’s friend was so mean to actually want to take photos of me puking! Anyway, managed to endure all the way up to the mountain, although I was feeling really terrible.

The night view was simply awesome, but it was also freaking cold until Alice and I started wrapping ourselves like Eskimo! Actually, my brother had wanted to propose to Alice at that point of time. Unfortunately, his ring was being kept with me, and my brother upon seeing that I’m feeling so unwell, he dropped the idea! Ahaha…Surprisingly, going down the mountain wasn’t that bad. Well, maybe I had puke too much that I was too tired and started sleeping all the way back. Later on, my brother also began to feel unwell with all the turnings; he started falling asleep as well. As for Alice, she was also tired from the lack of sleep the previous nights and fell asleep all the way back too. The only people wide awake were my sis and her friend. Think they talked non-stop in the car! Anyway, he was gentleman enough to send us back right to our hotel’s doorstep. Initially, we were supposed to go for supper together, but seeing that we all slept like dead pigs, my sis and her friend decided to go without us. End up, we were quite hungry, so my brother and Alice went to the convenience store down the road to buy some food. My sis went out for supper for a while and when she came back, knowing that I’m feeling hungry as well, she accompanied me to the convenience store to buy some hot food. Quickly got some rest after our supper, coz it’ll be a long day for us, as we will be going to Universal Studios, Japan (USJ)!!

It was a Friday when we went the USJ. We thought there would not be many people around since it is still a normal working day for the Japanese, but we were wrong! The only train that goes to USJ was really packed and even when we arrived there, there were already a lot of people queuing up to buy tickets! We were smart to purchase our tickets beforehand so it saved us time queuing up for the tickets. We went straight to the convenience store to buy some finger food and snacks, as we reckon we would not have the time to have lunch since the queue for the rides is madness and we would have to “multi-task”: eat and queue at the same time! My sis had been there before so she knows it best! Ahah…

The first ride we went to was Spider Man! The queue for the ride was damn long, but it wasn’t that bad as compared to the previous time my sis went. Basically we queued for about ½ to 45mins. The ride was really very fun. It’s actually a 4-D ride, with great effects and graphics. After that, we went to play other rides; ET, Back to the Future, Snoopy, Jurassic Park, and Terminator etc. Basically, the rides there are quite mild, unlike those in the US or Aussie. So basically I tried on all the rides. Jurassic Park was a bit scarier. It’s actually a water ride where you’ll plunge down 12 storeys down. We bought the poncho, so that we won’t get wet. Snoopy ride was also another fun water ride. Not as scary compared to Jurassic Park. Anyway, we managed to complete all the rides by 4pm. Apparently, there was a X’mas light up in USJ at around 6.30pm, so we decided to go to the Hard Rock Café, which was just outside the entrance of USJ to do some shopping, since both Alice and I are HRC fanatics! We went in back to USJ at around 5+, bought some delicious hotdog buns, took some photos of the nicely lighted Giant X’mas Tree. Around 6pm, we went to find a good spot and sat down while waiting for the performance to start.

The performance was really exciting! There is Elmo, Cookie Monster, and some other characters singing and dancing away and there were also fireworks! At this point of time, my brother proposed to Alice!...A very touching and romantic moment indeed!!... Simply indescribable! Left USJ and head down to the Dotomburi area again, this time, to eat the Ramen as our dinner!...Oishii!!! Then, we went back to the Peko shop and bought some delicious cakes as our supper later on. Unfortunately, when we got to the train station, it was the peak period where everyone gets off from work. We had to squeeze our way into the train. It is also at this point that my impression of the Japanese guys dropped to the lowest level! THEY ARE SO UNGENTLEMAN!! The train was already very packed, yet they still keep on squeezing. Worst of all, it was a “silent-squeeze”. They don’t even bother to say “Sumimasen” (Execuse Me). All they did was just push, even though there was simply NO SPACE!!! Worst of all, if they see someone losing his balance and going to fall, they will a make way to let the person fall!! This is something that we witness ourselves and we feel so disgusted! I think the Japanese are quite self-centered! The best part was when we had wanted to alight from the train. Unfortunately, we were standing on the other side and we had to squeeze our way to alight from the other door. Since my sis was in front of me, she was considerate enough to say “Sumimasen”, and those guys left a miserable gap for her to squeeze past and the gap was closed back immediately. Damn! I was so pissed when I saw this and I started elbowing my way out! I did not know what happened after that. The next thing I saw was my brother and Alice laughing their heads off. Apparently, I had elbowed so hard that a few guys lost their balance and nearly fell! After that, they were looking for the culprit who was elbowing them! They turned to look at my brother and Alice and they just act blur! After all, I was the culprit who had already alighted from the train! And because of my elbowing, my brother and Alice had a big space to walk comfortably out of the train! ahahaha

The next day was like a free and easy day. My brother and Alice went on a day tour out to Kyoto, while my sis and I went to the Harley Shop in another area of Osaka, about ½ train ride. It’s Harley craze again, bought 2 T-shirts for my bf and a bear for myself! But the Harley stuffs there are not really cheap. It’s almost double the price as compared to Singapore, but the design is really unique and I reckoned no one else will wear the same as my bf! Hee…

After shopping, we also went down to Kyoto. Glad that my sis is a good navigator, so we did not get lost! My sis brought me to my favourite Astro Boy Store. There, it sells lots of kawaii Astro boy’s merchandise. Too bad, I do not have the means to buy the entire shop! As usual, bought some stuffs and took photos with Astro Boy!...Headed back to the train station where it’s shopping again! Here, we spent quite some time buying souvenirs and foodstuffs. Met up with my brother and Alice after their day tour in Kyoto. After that, we headed back to the place where the Harley store was. There, we had dinner twice!! The restaurant has two levels. On the 1st level, it sells the BBQ meat, where you’ll sit at the table, and you have a little BBQ pit, of course not the type in East Cost Park!...The heat from the charcoal is just nice and the meat is a sliced thinly, so you just have to place it on the wire-mesh for a while and it’s ready for consumption. It’s Super Delicious!! Oishii!! Think we’re really pigs, coz all of us finished that big bowl of rice, the meat, the appetizer etc, paid our bill and then we went up 2nd level to eat the Yakitori. Basically it’s something like what we buy in Takashimaya or Far East, grilled meat in Satay Sticks. But here, you have different variety of food. So we ordered a few sticks and some cocktail to go along. At the end of the meal, we feel so full, sleepy and tired. Drag ourselves back to the train station and back to the hotel. It was an unforgettable dinner. The food is great and at the Yakitori Restuarant, I met a very Kawaii guy! Even my siblings and Alice also said so. Too bad, he’s a little bit “sua-pa”. He doesn’t know how to use a digi-camera. Infact, he was so fascinated upon seeing a digi-cam! Think like what Alice said, he’s a Himbo! So disappointing! Anyway, he was quite obligating when I requested to take a photo with him. When we got back our hotel room, we were so dead tired by then. Switched on the TV, and saw “The Pianist”, in Japanese version. Started watching and had my sis as my translator. We were really hooked on that movie that we force ourselves to stay awake. It was really a good movie and we were simply addicted! Infact, the first few things we did when we came back from Japan was to watch the VCD again, this time in English version and to buy the book!

Basically, the next day was another free and easy day. Brother and Alice were really burnt out so they slept till 11am, before heading down to Yokohama. My sis and I woke up around 9+, had breakfast and then we head down to Nara. Can’t really remember Nara, although I had been there when I was still a kid! The only thing I remembered was that the deer was biting my mummy’s clothes. Well, maybe the clothes she wore looks like the biscuits which the deer eats! Ahah…coz when we were there, we saw a scenario similar to what my mummy encountered. There was this Taiwanese lady who was walking and looking at the deers. Suddenly, this deer went over and starting biting her coat. Ok, her coat really looks like a biscuits, coz it was light brown in colour and probably it looks really delicious to the deer! Anyway, she started screaming for help and most of the passer-bys, including my sis and I just found it so amusing!

Basically, Nara is a very touristy place, so it’s quite easy to move around. We went to several recommended spots on the map to take photos. It was a little disappointing, coz it wasn’t that beautiful as what the map has described it to be. After that, we walked quite a distance to the famous Giant Buddha. It was really fascinating to see such a big Buddha. Bought some lucky charms for myself and my friends. Went shopping along the streets where we bought a little toy deer for Alice. We ended our Nara tour earlier than we expected, so we decided to head back to Dotomburi again for more shopping. Bought more souvenirs there. Headed back to Shin-Osaka where we bought Bento Sets as our dinner that night. Called our brother, who was on the way back and ask them to “da-bao” as well. Dinner that night was at the Hotel’s eating area. Very cosy area and we started comparing who’s Bento set is cheaper and nicer! Haha…think we are all very bo-liao people indeed!

Did some packing that night as we bought so many things and we reckoned that we would not have time to pack the following day, as we would be back late since we will be going to Kobe for the lights up. Brother and Alice also started packing as they would be going to Tokyo the next day. Much as we wanted to help them carry some of their shopping stuffs back, our own shopping nearly burst our luggage! No choice, they have to carry it themselves! haha

The next day was spent in Kobe…Yes! The place famous for its Beef! Did not go there to try the beef though. Our purpose there is to see the Kobe lights up thingy. Not sure about the “history” behind it. But according to my sis, it’s an annual thing to commemorate the Japanese who died during the huge earthquake that nearly wide out the entire city and also how they had rebuilt themselves and resume life back to normal again within a short period of time. Hmm…I guess it’s somewhere along that line lah. Basically, Kobe was another shopping paradise, with lots of other attractions. Too bad we did not have enough time to explore the place. It’s definitely a place where my sis and I would want to go back again! Due to the time constraint, we only went to the famous Kobe Port/Tower, where you can see the ships, ferries wheel and walk along the harbor. It is indeed a beautiful sight!

Oh! Did I forget to mention about the Chinatown in Kobe?...It was really interesting to see what they sell over there. It’s quite similar to what we have here in Singapore. Roast pork, duck, chicken, dumplings and fried fritters! Yes! “You-Tiao”!! It’s quite amazing to see the huge price difference! 1 “You-Tiao” here costs around 60 cents the most. Over in Kobe, it’s almost triple the price! Imagine paying nearly $2 for only flour and oil?? Forget it! I know my sis had a craving for it, but well, she’s going back Singapore anyway, and by that time, she can eat till she drop!

As Singaporeans, the Kiasu spirit is always there. Hee… Went to the area where the lights up would be at around 4+ to “chop” a good spot. When we arrived there, we realized we’re not the only kiasu people around. There were already lots of Japanese, all standing and some sitting around orderly! You’ll be amazed how “guai” the Japanese can be. Super Obedient infact! They do not talk, they whisper. And they don’t really push one another around. They will all move slowly and orderly! Amazing!!...Stood there in the cold and hunger for nearly 2 hours before the ceremony/light-up commence. The effort is all paid off when you see how beautiful it is when the row of lights starts to light up! Took lots of photos as well but we left quickly as we wanted to avoid the crowds in the train. Dinner that night was Bento set again from the train station. Did our final packing after dinner and its Goodbye to Osaka!...

Japan Trip : Part 3

Going back to Nagoya was the same route from how we came. Took Shinkansen again, alight in Nagoya, change to private line and then back to Okazaki. But this time round, we had more things to carry! Our luggage was heavier and in addition, we had an extra hand-carry, filled with all the food stuffs! We were practically dragging our bags back to the apartment! Finally arrived back at my sis’s place. Load off all our stuffs and we quickly started packing our luggage. Went out again before noon, as my sis needs to go back to school to pay up her outstanding rental and utilities as well as to bid farewell to her classmates. Initially, we had wanted to walk, then we saw Aaron-san, my sis’s friend. He is basically the bicycle man, whereby people who leaves Japan will sell their bicycles to him, and he in turn will get rid of the bicycle, thus he has lots of bicycles on hand. Got Aaron to lend me one of his bicycles. Unfortunately, the key was with my sis’s neighbour and she was in school. Poor Aaron, he had to use a saw and started cutting up the bicycle lock! That was really nice of him!...Anyway, it was really a comical scene after that. Well, I have not been cycling for a few years, besides, I can only cycle straight road, bends and turnings for me is a disaster! Imagine now I have to cycle not only straight road, but up and down hill, turning into small lanes etc. It was really a torture! Worst of all, the bicycle that Aaron lend me, seems to have some balancing problem. It resembles those foldable bicycle, whereby the wheels are so small and the handle bar is so difficult to control and with a bad cyclist like me, I nearly ended up crashing into the drain. Guess I was also quite paranoid of crashing, thus ½ the time I was peddling with my feet! Ahahah…It was really a funny scene coz my sis would have cycled and disappeared no where in sight and I was way behind, trying to catch up with her. When I finally catch up and see her from afar, whereby she’s there waiting for me, I’ll start shouting “Den Wo, Den Wo”!! (Wait for Me)…hahahah… Even when I was doing “warm-up” on the bicycle, Aaron was already laughing away at my poor balancing skills! I guess my sis and Aaron has never seen such a lousy cyclist like me! Ahaha

Managed to struggle and cycle all the way to my sis’s school. It’s actually quite near from her house, but due to my slow cycling speed, it took a longer time than usual for my sis to reach school! My sis school is quite a small building which has several levels. Went in to the Admin office with her where she settled all her admin stuffs. Then she brought me to her classroom, and introduced me to her classmates there. Help them take some photos and then my sis got some of her close friends and jio them go KTV together!! As some of my sis’s friends still need to attend lessons, we went to the supermarket to buy some snacks first while waiting for them to dismiss from school.

We sang like nobody’s business for 3 hours. Surprisingly, they have updated Mandarin songs in Japan and they even have songs by Jay Chou! It’s basically like the KTV here in Singapore, but it seems more high-tech! After KTV, we head down to a big shopping mall, whereby my sis used to work in the McDonald’s there. She went there to bid her final farewell, and also took some photos for remembrance. As we ate quite a lot while in the KTV, we bought only Sashimi, pork cutlet, wine and some snacks for dinner. It was a private farewell dinner with Evelyn, Chong-san and Liyun, all of whom are my sis close pals while studying in Japan. We ate and crap all the way till nearly 1am, and had to end the night early, coz we had an early flight back to Singapore @ 9.50am. It was a tearful farewell for Evelyn and my sis. After all, they had gone to Japan together and both have developed a strong friendship in this 1 year, and now, my sis is going back first. Lucky, Chong-san and Liyun were around to liven up the atmosphere.

Woke up at around 5am. Checked and made sure we did not leave anything behind. Went to Mini-Stop, a convenience store just opposite my sis apartment to buy some snacks to eat while on the bus. My sis booked the cab at 6.20am to take us to the bus station where we have to catch the 6.45am bus, a 1½ hrs ride to the airport! Liyun and Chong-san were really sweet to wake up at around 5.45am to see us off. Chong-san even helped us to carry our luggage down and both waited with us for the cab to arrive. Bid a final goodbye to them and we went off the bus station. Slept like pig upon boarding the bus. Guess, we were really deprived of sleep and by the time we were awake, we had already arrived at the airport. Had wanted to do some last minute shopping at the airport. All thanks to the “efficient” system in Nagoya’s airport, that we ended up jammed and were nearly late to board our flight despite being 2 hours earlier at the airport before departure! There goes our shopping. Went straight to take the airbus to our flight. It wasn’t a full flight, so my sis and I had 2 rows of seat all to ourselves! As usual, I slept mostly throughout the journey. After nearly 6hrs, we finally arrived at Changi Airport. It’s really good to be back again. Although I had only gone for 9days, it seems longer than that. Coming back home was more eating again! That very evening, my parents went to Serangoon Gardens “Chomp-Chomp” and ‘da-bao’ BBQ chicken wings, stingray, Satay and Char Kway Tieow! *Yummy*…How can I ever lose weight with such good food around!!...

Anyway, this trip to Japan has really been an eye-opener. I’m really amazed with their language, culture and their way of life. The girls there are all well groomed; full make-up with super thick foundation, fake eye lashes, blusher, lip balm etc. and most importantly, their nicely done up hair. I seriously wonder what time they have to wake up everyday to make themselves look pretty! Even the students are the same! They will fold up their skirts which is so short that they can’t even bend down at all and their eyes are drawn with either dark blue or black eyeliners dusted with white or bronze eye-shadow! The guys are the worst! All, if not most of their eye browns are trimmed to perfect arches and shapes. Their hair all neatly and nicely gelled up. Most of them are in black suits, even the bus or cab drivers. Even the train station masters are in suits! Like what my sis told me, they are all very image conscious. Infact, 95% of the Japanese all carry branded bags! LV, Gucci, Prada etc. is a very common sight in Japan! No matter is male or female, all carry branded bags!

Also saw the ugly side of the Japanese. The males are not as gentleman as they seemed to be. Infact, you feel that they are quite perverted. I guess that explains why in the main train station, they have a special boarding area, whereby the whole carriage is for females only! The aunties/obasans in Japan are really very rude! They are the only ones who will go round pushing other people and always jump queue! Damn pissed! The toilets are also not that clean either. Most of the public toilet really stinks!

On the whole, it was a good experience and I did have lots of fun there. Don’t mind going back there again if I can find a sponsor again! Ahaha…

New Feng Shui...

So Happy!!!...Finally changed the feng-shui of my room! Actually, wanted to change the position of my bed for quite some time, but it wasn’t really because of the feng shui. Just that I prefer my bed to lean against the wall (so that I won’t fall off the bed!) ahah…and also to have more privacy since my bed faces the window thus the whole world can see me sleeping! Then, I went to buy the fortune and feng shui book by Lillian Too. Began to be a little superstitious in it. It actually tells you your luck forecast on a month by month basis, your lucky direction, colours and ways to enhance your lucky etc. It then occurs to me that actually the position of my bed is not really very ideal. According to other feng-shui masters, the bed is not supposed to face directly in front of the window, door and mirror or anything that is reflective.

Woke up around 10.30am this morning. Throughout my sleep the previous night, subconsciously I was thinking about the position of my room, so I knew I really have to implement the changes today no matter what, even though I was quite lazy. Lucky I had my sis to help me carry my bed, table, shelf etc. Then my brother walked past my room and he was so puzzled what on earth we were doing. Then, he came in and gave some suggestions, when he realized what was going on and also agreed that I should change the position of my furniture to get more free space. Soon after, my parents also came into my room. Think they were also excited about the shift in position. Finally managed to get the best position and everything now falls in place nicely.

Basically now, my study table faces the window, my bed is just beside my table, which is neither facing the window nor door…excellent position! Ahaha… Then my shelf is just opposite my bed, and my bedside table falls perfectly in place just beside my bed. Took about 2 hours to shift all the furniture around my room and then to pack up my stuffs. Luckily had my maid to help me clean up my room, coz it’s so dusty and dirty!

Hee…now I’m sitting comfortably in this new setup in my room…but think there are some things lacking now…feel like getting some small little pots of cactus and place them near the window. Think it will be prefect and more importantly, it should be quite easy to keep them alive! Ahaha….

Year 2004

Really glad that 2004 has been a smooth sailing year for me, because the previous year i.e. 2003 has been a “suay” and terrible year for me. I reckon that year was really bad for the roosters. Anyway, hope that this year 2005 will be just as smooth sailing as in 2004.

2004 had been an exciting year for me. Went overseas thrice; first to Genting for 3 days, then to Aussie for 1 month and lastly to Japan for 9 days. It was really a good experience to learn about the culture, language, people and country. Hope to go back to Aussie and Jap again one day. As for Genting, well, since our Baby GS had been sold, it depends on whether my bf is willing to bring his beloved Harley-Davidson for long distance riding!

School had also been pretty smooth sailing for me. Finally cleared my Damn Management Accounting! No more accounting for me, now and forever!! I’ve enough torture from it. As for other subjects, still not too bad. Basically a mixture of several High Distinctions, Distinctions, Credit, Pass and Fail!! Ahah…ya…basically I “took” whatever is available! But I think I need to change this proverb: “Failure is the mother of success” Actually, it should be “Failure is to let you know that you’re really sux at it” ahahah…So now I know that I’m really sux in numbers and accounting! Ahahah…Anyway, I’ve finally graduate from SIM, so no more books and of course accounting! ahaha

Actually now that I’ve graduate, really miss those days in school with all my friends, especially Uncle Mat, Auntie Clara, Uncle Mike and some people here and there. Come to think of it, we’ve known each other for about 3 years. They have really been through thick and thin with me, especially Mat and Clara. They have been through with me my darkest period while in 2003, always there to comfort and care for me. And not forgetting the fun we had in Aussie, unforgettable! Hope that they can find their dream job soon and may our friendship stay strong always!

Love life is also quite smooth. But then, my bf is always busy with his work and now that he’s going to set up his own café, he has even lesser time for me! *Sob Sob*…but well, opening a café and be his own boss has always been his dream, so I guess I just have to be supportive and endure his limited time for me. However, I know that he feels really guilty about it, so he will try to make up to me whenever he could. Actually, I really admire him for his high tolerance level and patience when he always has to endure my nonsense, crapping, tantrums, arguments, nagging, and severe mood swings! I know he dotes on me a lot, just that at times, he don’t really express himself well. Anyway, my only wish now is to see him do well in his café business.

As for family, everything went on fine too, except that my mummy had her thyroid relapse as well as her teeth problem, resulting in her severe mood swings! But now, she’s ok after her medication and dental treatment. Hope that her health will be better in 2005! Oh, and most importantly, I talk more to my brother now. Probably it’s due to 5 years age gap, sometimes we do not have things to talk to each other. Thus, the Japan trip gave me more opportunity to get to know him and his gf, Alice better. In my heart, he has always been a strict and authoritative brother, but in Japan, I see the crappy and funny side of him. Alice is also very funny. She may look very girlish and demure, but she’s actually very fierce! Mmm…at least next time my brother bully my sis and I, she can scold him for us! Ahah…As for my sis and I, our “sister-ship” is still as strong despite not physically being together for 1 year. We still crap, bitch and gossip a lot as before. Oh, of coz not forgetting my papa, my main sponsor for both trips, to Aussie and Jap! Everything also went on smoothly for him as well. He has also become more IT savvy and is probably even better than me!

Now that 2005 has come, hope that it will be an even better year for me although this year is the year that the roosters have “offended” the Gods. By and large, I do believe in such things, so I just hope that everything will turn out smoothly. More importantly, I hope to be able to find job soon. Hmm…think I should really change the direction of my bed for a better feng-shui! Ahaha…maybe I should do that later when I’m awake!

My Aussie Trip: Part 1

19th May 2004, Mat, Mich, Clara & Me boarded SQ237 for Melbourne!...It was a midnight flight, I just remember that Mat and me fell asleep the moment we board the flight as we both suffer from motion sickness!! Had supper at around 1am, I was happily eating my salmon, but poor Mat…he was really stoned, suffering from motion sickness despite the fact that he had medication!...it was really a funny scene, coz I remember him staring at the piece of salmon, looking so lost, while I was there happily munching away!...I looked at him and asked “Mat, why do you keep staring at the fish?”…he just gave me a blur look, lost in his own world and he mumbled some stuff which I could not make out, so I ignored him! Anyway, woke up at around 5am…Clara didn’t sleep the whole night as she was busy watching movies. Guess we were so bored on the plane that we started walking up and down the plane to find a good spot to see the sunrise. Wow! The sight was simply awesome! Immediately, Clara took her video-cam to capture this wonderful sight. Soon after, breakfast was served around 6am. By 8.35am, our plane finally landed in Melbourne!!...Yeah!

The first thing I did when I reach Mel was to call my dad and bf! Coz this is the first time that I’m traveling on my own!...Worst of all, I’m a well-known blur queen who has no sense of direction! So it’s better to give them a call asap to let them know that I’ve arrived safely. But come to think of it, I have Mat and Clara to jagar me, so chances of me getting lost is still quite slim! Haha

Basically we did not do much on our first day of arrival. Checked into our service apartment, Pacific International (PI). Luckily, we heeded Clara’s advice in staying here. It’s 10mins away from school, 5mins away from Hard Rock and 3mins to the Tram stop. Very centralized and easily accessible. All of us did not really sleep well the previous night and was suffering from jet lag. But we were so excited in exploring the new environment that we went out straight after loading our luggage! The first place we went to is to find out where the hell RMIT is located! Mat was our navigator; basically we just followed him, since we are all so bad in directions! Yeah! Finally we arrived at RMIT!!...but it does not look like a campus at all! It is located around shopping malls, whereby the Subway is just beside it! Had Subway sandwich for lunch. Walk around the area after that, and then went to Chinatown. We were all so fascinated by the Asian stuffs they have…oh yes! The name of the shop is Asian Groceries! It really feels like being in Singapore, except the weather! So cold…

The next day was spent on a side trip out to Great Ocean Road! Months prior to the trip, our Mr. Nice Guy, Samuel decided to organize this day tour, since most of us are going there anyway. He did all the liaising with the person and managed to gather 18 people! Guess he’s really quite resourceful. So we had our own bus and tour guide to bring us there. We went to see the 12 apostles, light house and koalas!...As it was during the winter season, it was really freezing like hell when we were there. The drizzling that day made it worst! But it was a really good experience. Mat was the most disappointed one, coz he loves to take photos, but due to the bad weather, he could not take nice pictures and he was quite grumpy for the rest of the evening. We were all dead tired by the time we arrived back in Melbourne at 9.30pm that we slept like pigs the next day!

Besides sightseeing, how can I forget my essential dosage of Shopping Therapy!! The weekend was spent at Vic Market, Smith Street and East Richmond where we buy like nobody’s business! Ok, Clara and I are shopping freaks, or rather Esprit freaks! We nearly bought the entire building! Poor Mat was there helping us to choose the bags and carrying our stuffs! It’s good to have a guy around actually! Ahaha… But I’m not as bad as Miss Clara! She can really buy a lot…and I really mean a lot!!..at times I have to be the devil and stop her from buying, else I really don’t know how she’ll be able to carry all those stuffs back! Vic market was really nice to shop. It is equivalent to the pasar-malam we have in Singapore. But then they do not sell pirated cds or hand-phone accessories and also don’t have ah-bengs to attend to you. They sell mostly clothes, nice jackets, shoes, sourveniors, bags and some other strange stuff. It is really a big opened-air shopping area, but luckily it was winter, so it was nice walking around there. Oh, most importantly, how can I forget my Harley shop!! Went gaga upon finding Harley shop at Elizabeth Street and spent almost $100+ on clothes, magazines, caps etc. Thanks to Miss Clara who accompanied me there, knowing that I would get lost if I were alone! (Really appreciate it gal *muacks*)

Not forgetting our trip to St. Khilda!...People were telling us how delicious the cakes and pastry were and it’s a Die Die Must Try kinda thing! Of course we tried, but it was really disappointing. It was not as fantastic as what people have described it to be. The cake tasted so sweet and the pasty seems like it was left overnight. And it was not cheap as well! I think the fish & chips there taste better! But the view of the sunset from the beach was simply awesome!...We were so excited taking photos that we nearly miss the tram back!

One of my fondest memories in Melbourne would be those days whereby after dismissal from school, Mat, Clara and me will walk down to Safeway supermarket and do our daily marketing. We usually buy quite a lot of food and rubbish in the supermarket. Meat, Vegetables, bread, milk, cereals, chocolates, cookies, juice etc. …We’re pigs, and we’ll usually finish up all the food the very next day!! Hee...so it’s supermarket shopping again the next evening. Besides, the fridge in our apartment is too small to store all the junks that we buy! Hence, supermarket shopping had almost become our daily routine!

Basically, Mat is our main chef while Clara is the assistant chef. I’ll help out in whatever I could from marinating to cutting up the food. I can’t cook well, so I’ll volunteer my services to wash up the dishes, lay out the table and tidying the apartment, which I really enjoyed! Oh…did I leave someone out?... Yes! And that’s Michelle! She’ll TRY and help…but well, I rather she just sit at the dinning table!

Ok, here’s a classic incident I remember!!..As I was bathing, Mat decided to ask her to marinate the chicken meat. She was enthusiastic about it and was bragging to Mat that she always cook at home. When I came out from the bathroom, to Mat’s and my horror, she was using a spoon and trying to marinate and “stir” the meat around! Gosh! We were like, “Hey Mich, do you really know how to cook?” I mean who on earth actually uses a spoon and marinate!!?? At that point of time, I was quite sarcastic and also impatient. I simply told her that she should be using her fingers and not a spoon to marinate. I tried to take over to do it, but she insisted that she wants to help! Sensing that Mat and I were quite pissed, finally she used her fingers. But it was worst! Guess she was afraid to dirty her fingers. You can see her doing it so gently that it really gets on our nerves!! Anyway, that was it! Since then we don’t bother to ask her to help!

Another classic incident…I heard that she was arguing with Mat or Wencai about cooking. I guess it has got something to do with the heat or fire. Apparently, she was also bragging that she cooks at home. The next thing they realized, she was there nagging at them about the fire thingy and told them that “You can’t put oil to the wok; you got to pour water in”!! As I was at Pam’s place doing project at that point of time, I wasn’t there to witness. But according to Mat, all of them i.e. Himself, Wencai and Ivan (if I remember correctly) all burst into laughter until they were all rolling on the floor! Hmm…after I heard about that incident, I was quite doubtful of Mich’s intelligence and ability to cook!!

Back to our life in Melbourne. Our apartment is always filled with visitors. I guess we were lucky to change into a more cosy apartment which is facing the main road. It was very comfortable and less creepy than the initial apartment we were allocated. Mat will always invite people for dinner at our place and he cooks really well!!...(Mat…I miss your Pork Chop!! *Yummy*)…Poor Mike, got “banished” to stay further away from us. He really missed out from the fun we had! Ahaha

Mag’s birthday celebration was another fun time we had in Melbourne. It was a private affair with mostly the people who are close to her. It was a really wild party that night! A full-monty “performed” by the guys. Actually they did not perform; infact they were stripped by all the gals! The whole “act” was filmed down by Clara, and now, it has become our female’s weapon to use against the guys if they were to bully us, or rather, we use that to exploit them at times! ahaha

Won quite a bit of money while in Crown Casino! I’m really bad at card games, so I’m only qualified to play the jackpot! It’s Idiot proof anyway! Ahaha…Basically, it’s a mini SIM when we were there. Every corner we go, we can see our school mates hanging out with their own cliques. Saw Samuel playing roulette with some other school mates. Think he was so excited that he spilled the glass of water on the table! End up they had to switch to another table and Sam was so embarrassed about it! Clara, Mat and I are not really hard-core gamblers. Basically, we just explored the place and to take photos of the beautiful night view of Crown Casino. Oh, and not forgetting the cheap and delicious $2 fish & chips in Crown!...Think that was the cheapest meal we could find in Aussie!

After 2 weeks of fun in Melbourne, we left on Saturday early morning to catch the domestic flight to Sydney! All of us did not really sleep the previous night as we had so many things to pack! Fortunately, I was quite kiasu, I try to pack my stuffs whenever I could. Hence, I was able to get more sleep than Mat and Clara. Upon reaching the airport, we were all so stoned!...We finally meet up with the rest (Mike, Mag, JS and Winnie) at the airport. Sydney…here we come!!

My Aussie Trip: Part 2

Arrived in Sydney’s airport. As we signed up with Citibank for the 4 days 3 nights free and easy tour package in Sydney, we have 3 nights stay in Swisshotel, 1 night stay in Blue Mountain, car rental and shopping + dining vouchers, all for the price of only $499/pax! So Cheap!! So the 8 of us split into 2 cars. Lost our way while finding our hotel from the airport, but managed to find it. Basically, Swisshotel is located in the CBD area. It is just beside all the big shopping malls so very accessible. We also went to Chinatown and Paddington market. Nothing much to buy there. The Rock, which is the Sunday market there is more interesting. It is well-known for its pancakes, but then we couldn’t find it, coz it wasn’t stated clearly its exact location. We only know the name: Pancakes on the Rock. Decided to ask people, and that’s when we finally found it. The pancakes there are fantastic!! It’s hard to describe, you have to taste it yourself. Anyway, we had pancakes as our brunch, and its shopping time again! Went to Hard Rock after that for another round of shopping since most or rather all of us are Hard Rock fanatics as well. Dinner that night was so romantic! It was along the waterfront with all the yachts parked there. That was the time where we ordered Kangaroo meat! Awweee…so delicious!! After dinner, was a romantic walk with not 1 but 7 people! Ahaha…but it was also a tense moment, coz our results are out that day. Clara, Mike, Mag and Me decided to walk to the Internet café to check our results, coz I hate to be kept in suspense. Luckily, I cleared all my subjects! Yeah!!

Personally, I feel that Sydney is not as fun as in Melbourne. Maybe we stayed in Sydney for around 4 days and have yet to really explore the city. I guess the only fun part was going up to Blue Mountain, where we stayed in Strawbale, a nice looking English cottage. It was really a good experience! We have the whole house to ourselves! It consists of 7 or 8 rooms, including the attic. The place does not have a heater. Instead, it has a firewood area where Mike and JS have to chop up the woods and start the fire! We also went to Sister’s mountain, a 10mins drive away from our accommodation. Tried on the world’s steepest tram! Damn scary…the cable car ride back to the start point was worst! I was practically covering my eyes and not even taking a glance out of the window to catch that breath-taking view! Luckily, I had Mat and Clara there to comfort me! Hee…of course not forgetting my sweetest Mat & Mike who stopped by the Harley Dealer in Sydney to satisfy my Harley crave while on the way up to Blue Mountain. Yeah! Shopping again in Harley!!

Dinner that night was instant cup noodles and a whole roasted chicken which we bought from the supermarket. It was a simple dinner but all of us enjoyed it. You can feel the warmth of the firewood burning, the peacefulness of the surroundings and sharing that wonderful moment with your close friends. After dinner, all of us went back to our rooms to settle down, bathe etc. after which, we gathered at the living room area and started our gambling activities!! Ahaha…I did not join in as I am an idiot in card games…”Chua Dai Di”…Anyway, I was also tired that I fell asleep on the couch but I could still hear laughter from Mike, Mich, Clara, Mat…think it was Mike who lost again that night…as usual! Ahaha…Early next morning, we set off again for the airport, to catch our morning flight again to Gold Coast. Here’s an unforgettable moment in our Sydney trip. We nearly miss our domestic flight!!

We were supposed to set off at 7am, coz the drive back to the airport is around 2 hours. Our flight was around 10.45am. Logically, we should have ample time. However, some of us overslept and by the time we actually moved off, it was already 7.30am. Even then, we should be able to reach on time. But we forgot that it was a normal working day for the Australians and it was actually the morning peak hour! Worst of all, there was a traffic accident along the expressway, thus the traffic was really slow moving! We were all quite anxious by then. Luckily, we have Mag and Mike, two excellent drivers who managed to bring us there on time, but they themselves nearly miss the flight coz they need to return the vehicle. We were the last few to check in and we told them that our 2 friends were coming soon, but the staff told us that if they cannot make it in another 5mins time, they would not be able to board the flight. Then Clara, Mich and I tried to stall for time. We purposely take a long time to load our baggage on the belt and keep on distracting him so that he would not be able to process our boarding pass so soon. Luckily, at the very last moment, Mike and Mag ran in as fast as they could and off we go, running to the gate like mad people! Worst of all, the stupid boarding gate is like one end to the other end, there’s no travelators, and we had to run with our hand carry, and mine was like 8kg!! Terrible!! Anyway, we thought that was the end to our nightmare of catching the flight. To our worst horror, our flight Jetstar is damn pathetic!! We were told back in Singapore that our domestic flight would be changed to Jetstar instead of Quantas, so we thought it was like other normal plane and just accepted the changes. But this was not the case. It is a budget air, free seating, seats so cramp that poor Mat and Clara were nearly squashed! No snacks were served and the plane just don’t feel right. It just feels like it will crash any moment! After nearly 45mins of torture, we finally arrived in Gold Coast!

My Aussie Trip: Part 3

Gold Coast wasn’t as cold compared to Melbourne and Sydney. The weather was good. Did not do much the first day we arrived as it was already noon time when we reached our accommodation. After loading off our baggage, we went in search of food in one of the shopping malls. Did some shopping at the supermarket for dinner. This time, it was Mag, another of our excellent chef who prepared dinner for us. *Yummy* We had an early rest that day coz we wan to conserve our energy for the next day in Dream World!

Haha…being such a timid person, I missed out on a lot or rather most of the rides. It is just too scary for me to take it. I think Clara is the only one who played nearly all the rides and not suffering from any form of motion sickness. And there I was, trying to be their camera woman filming them while they were playing Wipe-Out. The Tower of Terror and Giant Drop really freaked me out, so I choose to go and explore the place and self-entertained myself! I ended up queuing for the Antiques Cars where any idiots will be able to drive even without a license!

The worst was the Cyclone ride! Until now, I still feel so cheated! All of us did not know that the ride was actually a 360° roller-coaster ride! It was only when it came to our turn and we board the roller coaster, then we saw the whole setup of the ride! Clara was like “Hey, look there!” When I saw it, my heart sank but it was too late, I’m already on the roller coaster and being secured onto my seat! Of course the rest are not afraid except for me! It was a terrible but good experience thou. But poor Clara, her ear drums nearly burst because of me. I was screaming so hard beside her that when the ride ends, she told me to shut up, coz I was closing my eyes half the time, so I wasn’t aware that it had come to a halt! It was quite embarrassing coz apparently; I was the only one who screamed non-stop! Another terrible ride was Scooby-Doo. Due to the bad experience Clara had while sitting beside me, this time it was Mat who had to suffer my screams! This ride did not have any 360° turn. Instead, it travels backward instead of forward! Damn Scary!! Anyway, I was lucky that I did not suffer from any motion sickness from those rides, but my throat was quite hoarse after that due to all the screaming! Anyway, it was a tiring but fun-filled day. All of us slept like pigs when we got back our apartment.

The following day was spent in Movie World! It wasn’t as scary as Dream World. Anyway, I’m also not interested in the Lethal Weapon roller coaster ride. Basically it was more relaxing there. Took lots of photos with the Warner Brothers Cartoon characters. As usual, I went to explore the place myself since all of them all queuing up for the roller coaster rides. We stayed on to watch the Parade, did some shopping and its time to say Goodbye to Movie World! Had a great Chinese meal that night, all thanks to Mag’s wonderful uncle living in Gold Coast. He was such as great host and even lends his 4-wheel drive to Mag & Mike to drive so that they can bring us around in it. The best thing I can remember about him is his culinary skills! He invited us to his house for lunch. It was the best meal I ever had in Aussie! The thought of his Tom Yam soup, green curry, sotong etc. still makes me drool till this day!

Yeah! It was shopping spree again the next day! As usual, how can Mike ever forget about my Harley shop! He was really so sweet to drive us, or rather me there to shop again! But I think, towards the end of the trip, they were all so influence by my Harley madness that they themselves also started buying! After that, it was shopping in Habour Town. It is well-known to be a shopping paradise! It sells branded labels but at ½ the price! All of us went crazy over in the Mambo’s shop. The skirts and tops are really dirt cheap as compared to Singapore. It was the same over at Esprit! Bought a lot of stuffs again! As usual, we did our groceries shopping again and bought a lot of food for dinner. Probably, it was like a farewell dinner coz it was our last night together in Gold Coast. Mike and Mag will head back to Singapore from Gold Coast first, while the rest of us will leave for Brisbane and head back to Singapore from there. It was a night of packing, packing and more packing!

The next morning, Mich auntie staying in Brisbane was so kind to drive up to Gold Coast to pick us up. Unfortunately, we were too fat to squeeze inside her car after loading our baggage, thus we decided to take the coach to Brisbane instead while Mich went with her aunt! Hurray!! Finally we can bitch without her!! Ahaha…We were so glad that we managed to book the 3pm bus, so that we have more time to ourselves and bitch about her! ahaha…We did some last minute shopping while at Surfers Paradise, had delicious Ramen, sat in starbucks had kopi, chocolate and ice-cream, while Clara and I look at those hunks walking around with their surf boards even thou it was winter!! Finally boarded the coach at 3pm. We were so tired by then that we overslept and missed the bus-stop. We end up stranded in Brisbane City! Fortunately, the driver was kind enough to let us make a U-turn back to Garden City, the place we were supposed to stop without charging us. This time, all of us were wide awake and luckily, the trip back was only about 45mins! Finally met Mich and her Aunt where she drove us back to her house.

Her Aunt’s place is relatively big enough to accommodate the 4 of us. She’s a wonderful host, letting us mess up her house, cook delicious Chinese cuisine for us to eat and bring us around Brisbane city and to the Sheep farm. Even thou it was only 2 days, she was really like a mother to us, taking good care of us. So it was quite sad when we have to leave for Singapore that night. In a way, we were also glad to be going back home after 1 month in a foreign country. Miss everything back home, the food, my dolls, my bed, my toilet…haha…But now that I’m back, I miss those days in Aussie. Hope to go back there again one day. Gotta start saving up now!...Hee…

This trip really make me realize the importance of friendship. My 2 ever sweetest and wonderful nannies, Mat and Clara really took good care of me. Both made sure that I have enough to eat and drink! Mat will make us wonderful dinner, while Clara will make us delicious breakfast! ( I miss her sandwich with cheese and ham! *Yummy*)… They will also fuss over me whenever my joints start to ache, coz at that point of time, I did not know I had rheumatoid arthritis. Clara will always help to wash up the dishes knowing that I’m in pain. Mat on the other hand, will help me carry my luggage when my fingers became stiff due to the pain in the joint. *So touched*

Another nice person would have to be Uncle Mike. Too bad the service apartment that he stayed was quite far away from us, else we would definitely have lotsa fun together. Most importantly, he would not have to endure the whining from some irritating freak, to the extent that he had to stay in Crown Casino until midnight just to escape from such nonsensical human behavior! Wonder why there are such people on earth! Anyway, he was quite obligating when I ask him for favor i.e. Drive me to the Harley Dealer! Ahah…On the whole, a nice friend to have, and more importantly, he treats Mag really well! So happy for the both of them!

Definitely, there is also some unhappiness during our trip. Fortunately, we are all quite tolerant with one another. Anyway, that applies to only Mat, Clara and Me. No shouting spree or cat fights etc. while staying together. But I wouldn’t say for sure about Mich. Sometimes it is only when you stay together, then you’ll be able to see a person’s true colors. At least now I know for sure who are my genuine friends and who are those fake and selfish people who make use of you. Sounds profound?... Not at all, coz only people who have been through what I’ve gone thru will understand. Still don’t get it?...Well, forget it! Ahaha…

My 3 Years in SIM...

Time really flies and I’ve finally graduate from SIM. I’m now waiting for the convocation ceremony to be held in August. It’s still 7 more months to go! Can’t wait for August to come! Mmm…guess I would have to be patient. Hopefully I should be employed by then!!

My 3 years in SIM is really filled with lots of ups and downs, adventures, gossips and bitching. Well, but I would say that these are also wonderful memories which I’ll never forget.

My very first year in SIM was pretty tough. Previously, I was studying Engineering…thus, it was a total switch of course from Engineering to Business. Really had a hard time trying to catch up. Well, it wasn’t too bad for those Management type of subjects, coz it’s still quite easy to ‘smoke’ your way through, but not for accounting!! It was the only subject which in total, I took it 5 times!!! It was really a torture! I failed Introductory Accounting in Year 1 Sem1, re-took it in Year 1 Sem2 and managed to get a credit. Went on to Year 2 Sem3, took Management Accounting, failed this damn subject, retook in Year 2 Sem4, Gosh! Failed again…was somehow kicked out by the school (coz we’re not supposed to fail the repeated subject)…sent in an appeal letter, went for an interview with my course co-ordinator, and was lucky enough that they allowed me to stay in SIM/RMIT, as I did well for my other subjects. It was also because of this damn accounting that jeopardizes my chance of getting a Degree with Merit as well. Then, I went on to Year 3 Sem5 and retook Management Accounting again…*Phew*, I finally cleared this stupid accounting in that semester!!...Till now, I still can’t understand why I always fail accounting. I only know that I hate my lecturer, Bean Lai!!...She’s the worst lecturer I ever had in my entire schooling life!... She can’t teach, she can’t speak well, I don’t know what else she knows!! Worst of all, she cannot convince us yet she confused us! I am already bad with numbers…and with a lecturer like her, it was really doomsday!! I pity my juniors who are being taught by her now…

Mmm…besides my stupid accounting, I was able to handle my other subjects pretty well. Probably its because I have excellent project mates. I guess I made the right move by approaching Mat from the beginning in Year 1 Sem2! We were not even on talking terms at that time! I just know that he is from my Orientation group! But Clara and I were desperate to form a group that time, thus I decided to approach him. He was okay about it when I approached him and he told us that another guy, Mike would be joining us. Haha! That was it! From then on, they boarded our pirate ship! Heh heh…and from there, our relationship as project mates developed into buddies!...But I don’t know why they always say they regret joining us, when we’ve brought so much fun and laughter to them! *ahem* ahaha…Anyway, I know both of them love to spite us, so we don’t really bother about them, coz we have our own ways and means to make them be our slaves! Ahaha…Anyway, along the way, came Jinsheng (JS). Till now, I just cannot seem to understand him. He’s a good project mate but well, I just cannot talk to him as a friend. Maybe he cannot tolerate my nonsense?...Well, I don’t know and also don’t bother to find out! Its not my problem anyway!...

Basically, the people in my 28th intake are quite nice, but there are some whom I find them quite snobbish!...oh, but I did make an enemy while in SIM! She’s really a BITCH!! Her name is Charmaine! I don’t understand why there are such people on earth!! They ought to be shot! It’a long story...Anyway, Wencai did tell me that she was sorry for what she said…but till now, I’ve yet to receive an apology from her! Maybe she did not have the guts to do that! Who knows??...Some other people whom I dislike are 2 muslim girls in my class. Our “scandal” has actually spread to the whole class! Anyway, we’re not the only ones who kena!...They are now the 2 infamous muslim girls! I’m not being racist here, but you have to work with them then you’ll know the agony we went through!...Also heard a lot of “feedback” about them while in Aussie…I pity those people! Well, there are always black sheeps around, so I don’t let them affect my mood or life!

One of my fondest memories in SIM was setting up the Bazzar with Clara in Sem3. It’s great being your own boss as we have total control of the whole business. We were lucky to get our goods based on consignment and was able to break-even by the 2nd day of business. Our bazzar lasted for 5 days…it was definitely tiring, but we did make some profit out of it. Most importantly, we gained invaluable experience being our own boss! Of course Clara and I also have our fair share of dispute, but it wasn’t a cat fight or anything…to a certain extent, we’re still quite tolerant of one another.

Another of my fondest memory in SIM would be the Overseas Study Program (OSP) to Melbourne!! It is part of the course curriculum in Year 3 Sem5. The 2 weeks in RMIT was actually a waste of time. It was like a crash course on Sex and Career! We’ll discuss on issues such as sexual orientation, homosexuals, genders etc. and we have to research and write a topic on it! It’s ridiculous! I don’t see how it relates to my course of study. Anyway, it was an experience, coz we were showed videos on transsexual and gays! I reckon that was the only time I did not fall asleep in class! The course on Career was worst!! It was so boring that half the time, I was dozing off in class. The lecturer will rattle on and on...seems like I’m being transported into a temple where the monks are like reciting the scriptures! Can’t wait for class to end! It was only towards the last 2 lessons where we have presentations, then I became more awake! Oh, did I mention that my group did a role play? It was really fun and even our lecturer was quite impressed. Hee…

Although the OSP was only 2 weeks, I extended my stay over in Aussie for nearly 1 month! I left on 19th May and was back on the 17th June. This 1 month in Aussie is filled with lots of memorable memories! But it is also through this 1 month that I get to see my friend’s true colors and who they really are, and if they are worth to be my friends. I also made some new friends along the way. Well, not exactly new friends, but these are my school mates whom I see in school but we do not talk at all until we were in Aussie! Strange, but it’s the fact.

My last semester in school was pretty smooth-sailing. But we had some disputes with Michelle ever since we came back from Aussie. Anyway, it’s over and I also do not wish to talk about it either. Now that I’ve graduate, do miss those days in school,e.g. the bad-ventilated canteen, some nice lecturers , the school envrionment and definitely my friends. Now I understand why people always say that being a student is the most interesting phase in life…
